Our founder and owner, Phyllis Butler is an accomplished pianist, organist, and violinist, who discovered music at a young age and found it to be life changing and lifesaving. Throughout her teaching and playing career, she has been blessed knowing that it has also changed others lives, brought people together, and helped people heal.

Over the years Mrs. Butler and SMMS have brought the joy of music to many communities around the island.

In 2015, Mrs. Butler was invited to create a music program for Bridgehampton Child and Recreational Center where she taught piano to over thirty school age children with no piano or instrument experience. After taking lessons with Mrs. Butler, her students performed a successful Christmas concert and Black History musical program.

In 2016 she formed a music program teaching children and adults in weekly group lessons at Faith Baptist Church of Coram offering beginner students the opportunity to learn piano and perform before live audiences. She also put together a jazz ensemble/ community orchestra with beginner to advanced students whose ages range from elementary to high school and who have performed for numerous community and holiday events including the Dickens Festival, Black History programs, Christmas Programs, Martin Luther King Jr. luncheons, school age music festivals and NYSSMA.
